What do we mean by social context?
We define social context as the sociocultural forces that shape people’s day-to-day experiences and that directly and indirectly affect health and behavior (Pasick & Burke, 2008).
How do we define ourselves?
We are defined by our DNA, our skin colour, the place our ancestors come from, our sex/gender, our height, our weight, our level of beauty, or strength, our temperament, our abilities… etc.
Our sense of ourselves is a combination of how we feel about ourselves in our inner person, and this social context of “me in the world”.
WE begin our lives, with our parents, school and general environment
