Some folks think that to post a copy of the 10 Commandments in schools is laughable….
here is a quick thought about how these things fit modern society.
(Quite frankly, there are those that need a “dad” ready to spank them in order for them to act properly, and there are those who are grown up enough to know that these rules are EXCELLENT rules to live by, and have worked for literally millennia.)
So here is a purely social concept of the 10 Commandments, rethought for modern society (not to be cast in stone… no pun intended)
1. Have scruples and rules to live by in your life. In Society, have fixed social rules that are mutually protective for rich and poor. Do right without the threat of a “dad” punishing you.
2. Don’t make your idols money, fame and power. Its not healthy. Fixations is bad for the human mind.
3.) Be civilized in your speech.
4. Take at least one day a week to rest or you will burn yourself out. (no pun intended.. haha)
5. Be respectful of others, and especially older folks. Respect them for their life experience.
6. Don’t murder other humans.
7. Don’t unscrupulously have sexual relations without considering the other persons involved.
8. Don’t steal other peoples stuff. Not in outright actions, or in subtle ways. (Play fair!!!)
9. Don’t lie. Make a habit of telling the truth.
10. Don’t envy other peoples stuff. It is not healthy for you, and causes all sorts of wrong actions. You got problems with these basic rules of life? They protect both yourself and protect others against you.
