Body/Mind - How we use our resources · Cutting to the Chase - Getting to the bottom of things

Inner Safe Harbour

When i found the original “me” that is not impacted by what is going on in my physical life, i found the concept of “inner safe harbour”. This is given many names/faces, and if they work for a person, fine, but i have found that this original me is the reality behind the faces.

What does this mean?

It is a bit difficult to explain, like any deep inner working …..

It is difficult because we allow our mind to be scattered and we lose faith in what has been given to us freely.

“The teacher walks past a student, and asks the student “what are you doing?” the student replies “i am trying to wipe the dust off the mirror” the teacher swats him with his fan and says “you silly, the dust does not stick to the mirror.”

They are talking about the nature of the original mind… the original “me”.

The original mind is like a pure seed, and it does not get sullied by our life circumstances. It is like the background of our experiencing.

In a way, we might say that this is why we never feel old, like our body tells us it is.

Because this original mind is unchangeable, when we keep it in the front of our experiencing, we can live life like every moment is new and fresh.

The searching and finding of this original mind has many strange stories, as it cannot be simply borrowing ideas from another person, it is THE deep personal journey of discovery … but all the way along, the original me is like a GPS beacon calling out to us….

In the end, it is “me” …. always was there, always will be as long as this body continues to breathe.

So, it is the deepest discovery, and yet was never lost in the first place.

Without the search, it won’t become obvious, yet at the same time, it is our scattered mind that muddies the water. but like dirt in water, it will settle to the bottom, because in reality, the dirt doesn’t stick to the water.
