Ethics as a fundamental basis for Society

Having a set of ethics, or rules to live by is foundational for society.

Without a set of ethical rules, there can be no trustable standard for people to depend on for building a life.

If we don’t know if someone will simply walk by and take everything we own, there is no reason to try to build something.

If we can’t trust someone s word, how can we do business with them

If we have to live in fear fear for our lives, we cannot live in a normal or productive manner.

These ethical foundations, while many have come down to us from religious traditions, they are social rules at their base.

Without these social rules of conduct, society collapses.

If a group wanted to show that our society “doesn’t function properly”, it would make perfect sense to undermine our ethical foundations.

To keep people’s focus on some sort of boogeyman, is to hide the real root of this undermining factor.

This is why rules, laws and punishments must be based on Ethical standards.

With the current onslaught on a common sense of “objective reality”, the whole concept of some sort of social standards being implemented seems to have become some sort of taboo.
