Truth is natural reality.
Our “intellectual” brains like to make it out to something separate, but it is not.
We can use one or more of our senses to see it, hear it, touch it, smell it, taste it. But natural reality is built from building blocks that are hidden from our five senses. Natures totality does not give its secrets up easily.
Nature is a wonderfully super integrated system.
Whether we consider this wonderfully integrated system to have been produced by an intelligent Creator God, or whether we consider that the system is non-intelligent, or whether we consider that this all somehow “fell together by blind chance”, we still all participate in the same Reality, unless we fall into mental disease.
We humans live in and experience an environment similar to fish in water.
But the difference is, humans can look around them and consider (reflect upon) the world we see, as separate from ourselves, unlike a fish, which simply sees itself as a part of the fish/water environment. (as far as we understand to date)
Natural reality has “The World of Faces”. It is like a surface that we can see, while knowing that inside, or below it, there is something that we cannot see, but we can see the influences of that inner thing by what we see on the surface.

Everything we can sense has a face on it.
But below the surface, there is the Unseen World, otherwise known as Deep Nature. We all instinctually know this. This is why we see the same traditions about Deep Nature (The Unseen World) behind most of the worlds ancient traditions.
The ancients mistook this Deep Nature, or the Unseen World, as something separate from the totality of nature. They called it spirit, and saw it as outliving the natural thing they were seeing.
In this process, they began to give the Unseen World characteristics, not unlike human characteristics.
Anything that seemed harmful to them, they characterized as “Evil”, or some degree of “Bad”.
When the Unseen World seemed to provide them with a good outcome, they characterized that as “Good”.
These human given interpretations congealed into beliefs that were incorporated into religious dogma.

We humans want to feel safe, in our picture of the world, and how it acts on us. Because of this, many of these ancient beliefs still carry weight in our modern world.
This is not incorrect, because, these beliefs stem from Deep Nature, that we instinctually know to be there below the surface of the World of Faces.
