How the heck is the internet like awareness?
In considering how the sense of our personal awareness changes, depending on how we are currently viewing it, strangely enough, two email addresses came to mind…..
Reality @ Me.com & Me @ Reality.com
In fact, these two email addresses speak volumes to the discussion on personal awareness…..
The first email address, Reality @ Me.com, speaks of the imagined website “Me.com” (no connection with any actual events or websites!!)….. where the central focus of the website is ME! All content at this website would be in relation to ME, and everything there must be put in the context of ME. (The earth as the center of the universe)
The second email address, Me @ Reality.com, speaks of an imagined website “Reality.com”, where the central focus of the website is REALITY! All content at this website is in relation to REALITY, and everything there must be put in the context of REALITY. (Oh, if we could just re-define God as Reality! Wouldn’t that be enlightening!!!?)
Whereas the first email address is similar to the “individual droplet of water” awareness, where its name implies that the focus of that reality is seen from a context of a singular “point of view”…. ME!……. the second email address seems to be similar to the “oceanic” awareness, where its name implies that everything is seen from a context of “me only in relation to overall reality”, rather than from what an individual might experience.
Is it strange, that we can picture ourselves as receivers of emails addressed to both of these email addresses?
The internet then looks like an oceanic awareness, with myriads of “light points” of awareness, or individual receivers of information (Points of View – POV).
Each POV is part of this vast expansive awareness, and in fact, without the individual POV’s, there would be a great silence on the internet! 🙂 So again, we have the individual “identity” as well as the “connectedness” of those individuals as “a part of the whole”.
In this metaphor, the functioning of the internet is never past tense, it is always in NOW….. as while we might try to alter something which has already passed, in reality, the past is as closed to the internet as it is to all the humans living today…. Yesterday is gone!
In this metaphor, the functioning of the internet is never future, it is always in NOW….. as while we might try to make it jump into the future, in reality, the future will come, as soon as it is its NOW time. Tomorrow never comes!

A rant…. Interestingly enough, this metaphor of participators in the internet, could follow as being as much one persons as it is of any others…. one which can bypass nationality, ethnicity, male or female, young or old, bright or not so bright, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, political affiliation.
(No, it is not the first time that my statements could bring on the ire of others…. not the first, and also not the last… 🙂 ) Political correctness has never been much of a strong point for this person….
