18,000 to 23,000 year old Fossilized Footprints – White Sands New Mexico

This places humans in New Mexico between 18,000 and 23,000 years ago. This date has been gradually pushed back roughly 10,000 years earlier. Previously, the accepted theory was that humans didn’t cross into North America until the late ice age crossing from Berengia. Interesting stuff!

Whereas the conclusion that Clovis could only be 16000 BP, it looks very much like there were humans there almost 23000 BP. This seems to make the migration from Siberia across Berengia a lot more complicated timeline than was assumed previously.
