Social Change in the 21st century

A Better World

i am going to suggest a few simple (perhaps oversimplified) notes on this from my own experiences and imho.

What is a better world?

A better world is a place where everyone understands both their own needs, and others needs, and respects both equally. (easy to say, hard to do)

A better world is a place where there is a society that supports this mutual understanding with laws that are clear and just for ALL.

A better world, is where societies laws create a mutual protection environment where all are protected, and respected equally, without creating special rules for “special groups” and “lobby groups”.

That society must be governed by leaders who respect these basic “we the people” principles, and do not get lost in their own hobbyhorse plans and ideologies.. this precludes elitist leaders.

1.) Live in the world, helping others and not harming others. This gets complicated as soon as we realize that some folks will quickly rely on others help and start taking advantage, thus making the helping person an enabler for their bad habits.

2.) Understand that our freedom is something we experience INSIDE ourselves, and that OUTSIDE ourselves, the right kind of society can act to support our inner freedom. Society does this by creating a mutual protection system, where we are protected from others, while protecting others from us.

  1. “Understand that our freedom is something we experience INSIDE ourselves, and that OUTSIDE ourselves, the right kind of society can act to support our inner freedom.” Agree with the first half of this statement … but I seriously am having doubts about “the right kind of society” happening in this world, at least as it is now… 😦
