It might be enlightening to ask why it is that the leaders abuse their power. Would it have anything to do with the fact that power corrupts?
Seems the more power humans have, the more they tend to abuse it.
Seems the more power humans have, the more it twists them and the bad side comes out (or maybe I should say, the more the manipulative side comes out)…..
This is true in ALL the government, corporate, even familial leaders that I have seen. Bar None.
It seems, the more power, the more corruption…..
Even good people, when they get to a level of power get corrupted…..
When considering abuse of power, people like to point at certain individuals, and they like to point out at religious leaders abuse…..
but think about it…..
What is the common factor among these leaders or?
The common factor is power or a power position.
They are being put on a pedestal by at least most of the folks under their sway …
There is SO MUCH evidence of this, and I think most folks would say it is just common sense.
The question is, how to limit this…… Decentralization of power (at least limits the abuses) Limit the amount of time in power positions.
I honestly don’t know of anyone who doesn’t have a serious mind shift in this way when they have a power position.
When we are young, i think almost all of us have heroes…. most of us hold one or both of our parents in the hero position….. a pedestal.
But as we get older, our heroes get knocked off their pedestal.
But often, we shift our admiration to a new person…. we still think that the concept is correct.
But after seeing the most disappointing things happen to my heroes, (in fact it just showed that they are human, and mess up….
But VERY OFTEN, the messing up is due to their sense of what they can do based on their position…. which equals corruption.
Agree 100%
