The Human Mind and the new Inclusivity Fundamentalism

It is not a coincidence that the beginnings of science had the earth at the center, and that not without some deep growing pains, finally evolved to see that the earth was an entity that was being acted upon by outside forces.

This is the evolution of how human experiencing works.

From the beginning, the human zygote is the thing experiencing itself and its surroundings. From the beginning, the human body/mind IS the center of every humans existence.

“I” is at the center of everything.

This “I” does not start out as a separate entity from everything around it, but the experiencing is the same regardless.

How does the “experiencers worldview” develop?

So, in the beginning, the only thing that can be directly experienced is the body and mind of the experiencer themselves.

Then we all know that at an early age, there starts to be a separation between the experiencing “I”, and everything that is “being” experienced around it.
It is at this point that the “fall of man” experience begins…. where originally, there was no conscious separation between the experiencer and the experienced, and then that swaddled awareness came to have a sense of it “Self” being separate from the “Whole”.

But regardless of the stage of development, the human body/mind is the CENTER of the experiencer….. largely called the Ego… but lets not fall down that psychological rabbit hole right now.

There is really no other way that this development could happen. A person cannot experience from any center other than their own… there is no mechanism for the self-sense-centered experience to be seen from any other Point Of View than the persons own center.

As our thought process develops, all concepts grow out from this single center.

So, what we call fundamentalism, is simply an outgrowth of this single self-sense-centered experiencing.

“I am right, and everyone else is wrong” becomes “We are right, and all other thinking is wrong”.
then
“Our countries method of functioning is right, and all others are wrong”
then
“I believe in Jesus or Allah, it is the ONLY way, and all other ways are Satans tricks”.

Etc etc etc.

Jesus actually tried to point out this type of thinking, with saying to love our enemies, and that the leader needed to be the servant of all….

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”… tries to turn this self-sense-centered thinking around to look at the world from others point of view.

“Don’t judge others, because your own faults are the same.”

“You will be judged in the same manner as the way you judge others”.

“Don’t judge someone else until you have walked a mile in their shoes.”

This is a world wide second birth, from self-sense-centered thinking to a worldview where OTHERS are considered with the same respect as one gives oneself.

The original birth, where people practiced the way of revenge and payback needs to be superseded by love and forgiveness, and acceptance that our self-sense-centered POV is narrow and essentially incorrect.

There is no way to grow as a human, without letting go of the concept that “I am right and all others are wrong”. We grow by expanding our POV to incorporate other folks POV, and then moving on to having MUTUAL RESPECT for others, and compassion for others.

This is why we can see examples of someone who is the head of a family unit showing love for their own, enact atrocities against those who are OUTSIDE that accepted family unit.

This is why a group of religious people can enact atrocities against those who are OUTSIDE their accepted group.

These are the actions of the self-sense-centered human being, who has not developed their worldview to one of Mutual Respect for All.

So, is the true second birth, an awakening to mutual respect for others POV?

Why is it then, that the 21st century gospel call for “inclusivity” shows the same fundamentalist tendencies as the religions that they abhor?

Because those groups are in the same frame of mind, characterized by:
We are right in our thinking
There is an adversary out there that does not think like us
We must free them from their wrong thinking
We must bring them into our fold
But all the while, their inclusivity is based on the self-sense-centered human being framework.

Inclusivity cannot be forced onto whole populations, it can only truly happen by people WAKING UP to the fact that we are automatically controlled by our self-sense-centered POV, and to develop that to a mutual-respect for others POV.

It is at that time, where we might see a true inclusivity, and not some sort of forced facade of pretending.

We could begin by using the method spoken of by William James who said (and i paraphrase) “If your method is proven out in your life to work, continue to use it, but if or when you realize that your method is not working anymore, or has proven itself to not work, then simply drop it and find a method that does work.”

I say amen to that, because the only way to see if our idea is based on truth, is to try it using the testing pot of Reality.
