Unwinding

At any given moment, we can stop and look inside ourselves and check whether or not there is a sense of “need”.

By need, I mean a sense that “I am waiting for something to happen, and then everything will be satisfactory.”

So, because of this, this present moment is not “perfect just as it is.”

This type of need is us being dis-satisfied with our life in this moment.

This dissatisfaction is the human mind disease.

We get used to living in that dissatisfied state, with that tension of “if only this will happen, then I will be satisfied”.

Any given moment, we can stop and just breathe, then this state will become immediately evident. We will realize that we are wound up like a toy and just can’t stop moving.

But it is possible to unwind and just “be”.

This is called a centering practice.

Our center is that unwound place.

This can also be called “zero”.

Our zero is like putting a car in neutral.

It is just idling, with no pressure to go ahead or back up.

It happens just by focusing on our breath.

If the mind pulls you back into the wound up state, recognize it, and just let the breath do the rest.
