We are either “full and complete, moving in the moment”, or we are in some degree of “scattered” and in some level of despair.
This is like a type of “psychological rule”.
Moving in the moment means that we are centered and present in this moment, living in our center or core.
The present sense of our core, is equal to the amount of time we are investing in being present in it.
Lack of the sense of our core equals scatteredness and a lack of moment by moment direction, which leads to despair.
When a person succumbs to scatteredness and a sense of despair, it is a downward spiral which uses self-medicating (ruminating on ones problems, alcohol, drugs, sexual relief, video games, etc.) to help take the sting off of the despair.
These above things are not necessarily always “self-medicating”, but when a person has succumbed to scatteredness and a sense of despair, these are tools a person turns to, to take the sting off of the despair.
So, one is either “moving in the moment”, or a person is in the “scattered mode”.
Moving in the moment is “living in the core”, and it is “being the stream of living water”, and it is “walking in the light”…… none of these things are “places”, they are either “present in my now”, or they are not.
The only answer to shifting from the scattered mode, to moving in the moment, is to come back to the breath, back to sense of the core of oneself…. so the answer to scatteredness is coming back to the breath…..
When a person understands the “core”, if a person comes back to the breath, the scatteredness fades and the core moves towards the forefront.
The core would be defined as a persons root. It is the most basic part of oneself. It also is the deepest most basic common denominator which is the primal essence of the universe.
The sense of lostness is ultimately the same as needing something….. something is missing.
If a person senses this, then the first thing to do is ask “what is it that I am missing in this moment?”
Once this question has been asked, the process of coming back to our center has begun……
Our life is a constant coming back to our core when we sense lostness……
The bright side of this process, is that practicing this diligently, builders our sense of our core……. builds inner strength.
Diligently living in the present is every humans birthright, and the answer to our despair. We are either one or the other……
For me, this morning, what I am missing is a sense of direction accompanied by the energy to move in that direction.
When I reach for the “why” of it, it returns the answer that it is because “I am scattered”…..
Scatteredness builds in our awareness, and it reminds us to return to the present moment…. but most of us don’t see scatteredness as a warning signal, we simply succumb to it, or suppress it, or fill ourselves with something exciting to dull the signal.
This may be due to not having everything “come together” regarding my present situation, but the financial position to move ahead has never been better in the past few months, so there is no excuse for me to succumb to this scatteredness.
In essence, it is the fact that I have allowed myself to become scattered, and that coming back to my breath is the answer…. in fact, there is no other answer.
Scatteredness builds in our awareness, and it reminds us to return to the present moment…. but most of us don’t see scatteredness as a warning signal, we simply succumb to it, or suppress it, or fill ourselves with something exciting to dull the signal.
Coming back to my breath IS the center, IS the answer to life falling into scatteredness and despair.
Walk calmly in this moment, now this moment, now this moment….. that is the WHOLE POINT. There is nothing lacking, and nothing that needs to be attained. We are full and complete in this moment…..
