Shunryu Suzuki was my only teacher for many years. Living in a small town in southern Saskatchewan in the late 1970’s and 1980’s, there was only one book store within driving distance where one could find any books on something like Zen Buddhism. Zen Mind, Beginners Mind was essentially my sacred text for many years…. solid words on zazen practice, how to hold the mind, the Soto Zen way of looking at the world. I bow to Suzuki Roshi, and offer this humble sketch, which i will place on my altar table.
