Just thinkin’…. on individual freedom….Let’s imagine we are starting from zero…..Is it possible to build a societal system where everyone’s individual freedom can exist?Should upholding individual freedom be a governing principle?Let’s run with it and see where it goes….. Ok…. now we have a few potential Principles popping up……Principle #1 (for now
) Individual freedom must be built on all individuals being bound to not infringe on other folks individual freedoms. (possible?)Principle #2 – Individual freedoms must not hurt other individuals.Principle #3 – Individual freedom must be built on not causing harm to other individuals…..Principle #4 – If an individual causes harm to another individual, they must pay for that harm (in kind?).Principle #4 – there must be a forum where punishment will be dispensed…. (BTW alot of this is already built into our judicial systems)SoPrinciple #5 – The judging forum system must adhere to the fundamental Principles, and not complicate them into unintelligible judgements….. Principle #6 – the Principles must be taken in a simple “right and wrong” manner.(This Principle will be hard for folks to swallow, as there are always gray areas….. but if there are no hard and fast rules, there can be no society)
Interesting … but is individual freedom the answer? (Guess I’ll have to read your next post in the series, eh?) .
